Do you know how many trips you take to the grocery store in a day? The license plate reading cameras in your neighborhood do.

Automated license plate readers (ALPRs) or “Flock cameras” are devices that scan and store license plate data from countless drivers every day, enabling the government to keep track of where people drive and when — without their knowledge or consent.

These devices collect everyone’s data, not just data on vehicles associated with a crime.
Alarmingly, there are no regulations in Washington state around public agencies using this technology. We’re working to change that.

The Driver Privacy Act (SB 6002) regulates government use of ALPRs by limiting how long agencies can store our data and how they share it.

We can have public safety without giving away our collective right to privacy. Join us in fighting for the Driver Privacy Act and your privacy.!
