Terra Industries is building something that quietly signals a shift for Africa’s tech landscape.

A 34,000 sq ft drone manufacturing facility is currently under construction in Accra, Ghana — set to open in June 2026. This isn’t a concept or a pitch deck. It’s already happening.

The company raised $34M this year across two rounds, backed by firms like 8VC and Lux Capital, alongside participation from investors linked to Africa’s fintech ecosystem.

The plan is to build out advanced drone systems at scale, with a target of 50,000 units annually by 2028 and around 120 engineering roles expected at launch.

What stands out here isn’t just the funding — it’s the geography. Ghana is becoming a serious node in hardware and defence-tech manufacturing, not just software.

Africa’s tech story is slowly shifting from consumption to production.

And Accra is now part of that conversation.
