At Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a fresh wave of protests broke out at the Faculty of Law on April 18, 2026, following a major dispute between students and the administration over examination results and attendance policies

Main Causes of this protest 

Result Withholding & Mass Failure: 
Students allege that the administration intentionally delayed the LLB final year results (originally expected in January). Upon release, roughly 50% of the students were reportedly failed or detained in one or more subjects.

Attendance Policy Disputes:
 Protesters claim that while strict attendance rules were enforced, the department did not conduct regular classes or publicly display monthly attendance lists as required by university norms.

Allegations of Misconduct: 
During the protest, students accused the Proctorial team and security personnel of physical assault and misconduct, including reports of breaking into washrooms to remove protesters

Current Situation:

As of late April 2026, students have locked faculty gates and are demanding the resignation of the Proctorial team and a review of the detention lists. The administration has reportedly refused to negotiate until the blockade is lifted.
