Leucine capsules. "Optimal" dose calculators. Meal timing windows.

The supplement industry has convinced you that muscle is built one scoop at a time.

It isn't.

Leucine flips a switch. Fine. Half to three grams per meal, and you've pulled the trigger. After that? The switch doesn't go higher. MPS saturates. Extra leucine becomes expensive pee.

The thing that actually matters, the thing no one wants to sell you because they can't bottle it, is EXERCISE.

Resistance training is what makes muscle listen to protein in the first place. Without it, you're hammering a nail into solid rock. With it, every gram you eat suddenly does more work. Works in older people, works in people with several chronic diseases... it just works! In fact, it is the reason we see 'anabolic resistance' in older folks.

Hit 1.6 g/kg/d (0.75 g/lb) of protein (current body weight, spread across the day). Plant, animal, mixed. It all counts. Done.

Then go lift something heavy. Repeatedly. For years.

That's it. That's the whole game.

Stop obsessing over leucine content per meal. Stop chasing per-kg-of-lean-mass dosing. Stop worrying about whether you're "cutting" or "bulking." The cake is baked by resistance training, training! Protein is a thin layer of icing on top.

Optimization through more (and more) protein and more (and more) leucine is a scam.
