A federal judge dismissed three Decatur police officers and the City of Decatur from a lawsuit regarding the death of Steve Perkins. The claims were made by his widow, Catrela Perkins, in a lawsuit against the City of Decatur and Christopher Mukadam, Joey Williams and Sergeant Vance Summers. They were on the scene when Perkins died, but did not fire the shot that ended his life. Perkins, 39, was shot by Decatur police officers in his front yard during the early hours of Sept. 29, 2023, during a car repossession.
