Let’s talk about topical peptides.

Not injectables, topical peptides that you apply directly to your skin. The truth is, your skin doesn’t rely on one type of collagen, it relies on a system of multiple types working together across different layers. Most skincare only targets the surface, but topical peptides work differently by signaling your skin to produce and organize collagen where it actually matters.

Two of the most talked-about are GHK-Cu and Matrixyl Synthe’6. Both are powerful topical peptides, but they play different roles. GHK-Cu is more about repair, supporting collagen I and III and helping calm inflammation, especially after damage. Matrixyl Synthe’6 goes a step further by supporting multiple components of the skin matrix, including collagen I, III, and IV, as well as fibronectin, laminins, and hyaluronic acid, meaning it works more on rebuilding structure, including deeper layers like the basement membrane.

They’re not competitors. They do different jobs. But if your goal is long-term structure and skin integrity, you need to think beyond just “collagen” and start thinking in systems. Because the truth is, healthy skin isn’t built by adding more, it’s built by helping your skin rebuild itself the right way.
