Dans ce road movie présenté à Un Certain Regard, Zuzana Kirchnerová nous plonge dans le quotidien éprouvant d’Esther, une mère célibataire qui élève son fils David, atteint d’une déficience intellectuelle.

Poussée par l’instant, Esther part avec lui pour un voyage improvisé, entre besoin de fuite et désir de tout reconstruire.

In 2009, Zuzana Kirchnerová won the First Prize of the Cinéfondation (La Cinef) with her short film Bába, a cruel chamber piece about illness. At #Cannes2025, the Czech director and screenwriter returned with Caravane, an intimate debut feature inspired by her experience as a mother.

In this road movie presented in the Un Certain Regard section, Zuzana Kirchnerová immerses us in the demanding daily life of Esther, a single mother raising her son David, who has an intellectual disability.

Driven by the moment, Esther sets off with him on an improvised journey, torn between the need to escape and the desire to rebuild everything.
