I feel like I moved on way too fast from this project. I want to take a moment to thank Bad Suns and Epitaph Records for the wonderful opportunity to create the streaming visuals for this perfect record. I felt so much excitement and inspiration the moment I first got the masters. And Christo is a great collaborator, I am especially thankful to him for leading the vision from start-to-end. He came to me with a lot of tasteful ideas that we developed into the Accelerator world. He’s one of those artists that knows exactly what he wants, and that made the whole ‘how’ part of the workflow clear as day.

I wanted to share behind-the-prompt style stuff about this project, but I was so in it then that it was hard for me to decide how I wanted to elaborate or articulate the process. Generative Visuals is a new thing. Anyone who’s in this space will tell you that they are figuring it out, and that there isn’t one book on how to do this thing. 

For now, I’ll just say this:

The important thing is to not skip the foundations. If you are already directing, editing, sequencing videos or making photos the old way, you have the advantage of knowing the language. Compositions. Angles. Motifs. Color palettes. All these things and how they tie to a particular emotion or feeling should already be or feel instinctual. You’ve been working on that muscle longer than any AI tech bro. That’s your superpower.

And to let you in on a little secret, most of the people exploring Gen Visuals don’t have that background or advantage. That’s why I think it’s such a cool thing.

Rick Rubin thinks it’s punk rock, this stuff. I didn’t expect to hear that, but I wasn’t surprised.

Anyway. So much gratitude. Thanks again everyone involved. Bad Suns will forever be awesome and this last record proved it. And I’m glad to live at a time where I feel overwhelmed with what to make, because the possibilities are now truly endless.
