## Caption

Originally published in the May 2004 issue, this feature sees Vincent Katz take an exclusive look inside the Manhattan studio of Roy Lichtenstein, where the artist worked almost single-handedly to develop the comic-strip aesthetic that defined his practice.

Set within a vast ground-floor space in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, the studio was designed to support his meticulous process—featuring a system of vertically mounted wooden strips and adjustable brackets used to hang and rotate works in progress.
