Next up for our senior spotlight is the one and only Talya! Hailing from East Northport, NY, Talya has been a driving force on this team for the past four years, and she has done it all with a calm, grounded energy that makes it look effortless. Talya is a 3-year Patriot League competitor and a Patriot League Honor Roll student. She has proven time and time again that she can balance it all: from excelling in the classroom in rigorous STEM courses 🧬🔬, in the boat, and beyond. A Biology major with double minors in Chemistry and Anthropology, she represents exactly what it means to follow your passions and pursue them with admirable levels of tenacity and a hunger to learn. 

In both her junior and senior years, Talya somehow managed a full academic load, a demanding rowing schedule, and an intensive internship at the Utica Zoo 🐟🐯🦘. She drives many miles to and from Utica to gain hands-on experience in animal care, and of course, sends us the cutest pictures. One of our favorite team memories was visiting the zoo with her during our after-exams training; it felt like getting a tour of the White House by a president #luckyus. This fall, Talya is heading to Colorado for veterinary school, and we cannot wait to see you crush it, because wow, you were truly made for this. 

As a captain, Talya leads by example. She shows up, puts in the work, and provides a steady presence that makes everyone around her better. Whether it’s early-morning lifts, 3 x 3k on the erg, or a long bus drive, you can always count on Talya to crack a joke during intense moments and make you laugh and smile 😹. 

Talya, you are kind, hardworking, and truly one of the most impressive people we know. You have left such a meaningful mark on this team (how would we ever get oars in the trailer without you??), and we are going to miss you so much next year. But can not wait to see all the incredible things you do in this next chapter of your life in Colorado! We love you, Talya, and will always be cheering you on ❤️!
