Capacity-building happening now in Manila 🇵🇭! Our UN-SPIDER Beijing Office, in collaboration with partners, is delivering a Training Workshop on Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment for Risk Reduction Planning (22–24 April 2026), hosted by the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA).

The training brings together experts and practitioners from key national agencies including PhilSA, PSA, DOST-PAGASA, Department of Transportation, Department of Education, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, Office of Civil Civil Defense, and other institutions working at the forefront of disaster risk reduction. This demonstrates UN Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER)'s 'whole of government' approach to addressing the disaster management cycle and to strengthening multi-hazard risk assessment capacities in the Philippines.

Participants are engaging in hands-on sessions on hazard, exposure, and vulnerability analysis, using geospatial tools to generate risk insights that support risk-informed planning and resilient development.

This initiative is supported by strong collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente, combining global expertise with national priorities.
