MomsRising was proud to stand alongside Utah State Senator senatorluzescamilla , Utah State Representative repangelaromero , the TPS and immigrant community, and leaders from the healthcare, education, faith, and legal sectors across Utah to call for permanent protections of TPS recipients.

From the Utah State Capitol, we raised our voices about what's at stake in the case before the Supreme Court of the United States, which could determine the future of Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Oral arguments will be heard on April 29.

What's at stake is not only the future of Haitian and Syrian TPS holders whose cases will be heard, it is the future of the entire TPS program, the lives of millions who depend on it, and the wellbeing of their communities.

We spoke about the real consequences: parents separated from their U.S. citizen children, workers removed from essential jobs, and neighbors forced out of the communities they have helped build for years, often for more than a decade.

TPS holders are not strangers. They are our neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family members. They are essential workers, caring for our elders, supporting people with disabilities, caring for children, and keeping our health care system and local economies running. They are deeply rooted in our communities and part of the fabric of this country.

The United States should be a place of refuge and hope, not a place where people who have lived, worked, and contributed for years are forced to fear being uprooted and sent to countries facing armed conflict or humanitarian crises.
