Richard Davis has spent a lifetime building one of the most incredible single player collections in the hobby, all centered around one name, Wade Boggs. What started on Christmas morning with a single rookie card turned into a collection that now fills an entire room, known as The Boggs Tavern. Inside are thousands of cards, game used bats, jerseys, autographs, and rare pieces from every era of Boggs’ career. From stacks of 1983 Topps rookies to unique memorabilia like signed equipment and one of a kind collectibles, every piece tells part of the story.But this is not just about how much he owns. It is about why he never stopped.Richard followed Boggs from Chicago as a kid, tracking box scores in the newspaper and building a connection that has lasted decades. That connection eventually led to something most collectors never experience, a real relationship with the player himself. From meeting Wade at signings to being invited into his home, and even hosting Wade in his own collection space, the journey has come full circle.
Along the way, Richard found something bigger than collecting. A community of like minded collectors, known as the Boggs Trust, formed around a shared passion. Together they trade, support each other, and preserve the legacy of a player who meant something to all of them.
