There are only around 300 members at Augusta, and you don’t apply… you get invited. Usually through serious connections, influence, or status. And even then, you’re looking at roughly a $40,000 joining fee. So it’s not a case of asking to join—if Augusta wants you, they’ll come to you. If membership isn’t on the cards, there’s still a slim chance through a guest round. That could be as a member’s guest or even a competitor’s guest. On the Sunday before The Masters, players in the field can take a friend out for a round alongside a member. Still not an option? Then working at Augusta might be your best shot. Caddies, volunteers, and greenkeepers are each allowed one round per year. And some temporary staff get entered into a ballot to play the Monday after The Masters finishes. There’s also a rare opportunity if you’re a member at the neighbouring Augusta Country Club—you might get the nod to complete a foursome.
