What is Ramadan like as a Berkeley student? 🌙

Observed during the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan is marked by daily fasting from dawn to sunset. It is a sacred month centered on reflection, gratitude and connection within the Muslim community. The monthlong fast ends with Eid-al-Fitr, a three-day festival of prayer and elaborate meals.

Follow along as Yusuf Karan, president of calmsa, takes us to the annual iftar celebration on campus, which brings 300+ students, faculty and community members to break fast together.
