Patrick Ewing’s mom worked in America until the rest of their family could afford to join her. America wasn’t what they expected. They received hate from both black & white people when they arrived in Massachusetts. It was rough adjustment for Patrick who was a young gangly, uncoordinated 12 year old with a Jamaican accent. Finally, he learned the game of basketball, & that game saved him.
