Ottawa’s own (AkheemDaDream) has officially been selected 22nd overall in the first round by the Los Angeles Chargers, marking a major moment for both the city and Canadian football.

The 25 year old edge rusher becomes one of the few Canadians to ever be taken in the first round and makes history as the first Canadian defensive player to reach that level. His selection also continues the streak of at least one Canadian being drafted into the NFL every year since 2011.

Coming off a standout season at the University of Miami, Mesidor put up serious numbers with 63 tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. His relentless motor and ability to pressure quarterbacks made him one of the most talked about defensive prospects heading into the draft.
