Happy Birthday to ChannelIslandsNPS! 🥳🎂

Established as a national park in 1980, Channel Islands National Park includes a marine sanctuary that protects six nautical miles of water surrounding the park. Often called the “Galápagos of North America,” it is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, from playful sea lions to migrating whales and thriving fish populations beneath the waves.

#Throwback to when we visited last summer! We partnered with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, NOAA Fisheries, and Office of National Marine Sanctuaries to connect with families from the surrounding community for a day of fishing. The families learned about sustainable fishing practices and how these waters connect to larger conservation efforts. 🎣

During Environmental Education Week, we are proud to play an ongoing role in building stewardship for our public lands and waters. 🌎
