Isaac Sinsun is an inmate at the California Health Care Facility (CHCF), a state prison in Stockton, who's served 10 years of his 25-to-life sentence for murder. 

As part of the rehabilitative efforts at the CHCF is the BARK Program, a special program in which incarcerated individuals have the opportunity to raise future #servicedogs for Canine Companions through our prison puppy raising program. 🐕‍🦺

Since the launch of our prison puppy raising program in 1995, hundreds of incarcerated handlers from prisons across the country have made an impact by successfully raising our service dogs for people with disabilities. 

For Issac, raising a puppy is a way to make amends and help. Currently, he's raising Scoop, a #puppy co-raised by an executive producer at CBS News.

"This is an opportunity for me to give back to the community that I took from," he says. "I was out there terrorizing my community. I was taking. I was selfish. I was greedy. I couldn't see past my own selfish needs. This opportunity allows me to give back to my community and be selfless for once."

And the results speak for themselves. #Puppies who are raised in prison programs graduate at a 10% higher rate than those raised in traditional homes. And, there's less than a 5% recidivism rate for people that participate in the program.
