#WaterIsLife | Gaza City — On April 11, we began a month of water truck deliveries to honor ten years since the birth of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests at Standing Rock, when the people of Oceti Sakowin rose to defend our sovereignty and water, our first medicine. To honor this resistance, the Lakota have sponsored a month of water truck deliveries across Gaza and recommit our solidarity to rebuilding water infrastructure with our kin there.

Our team began these deliveries in the north with 1 water truck (6 cups total) to the New Gaza School area in Gaza City.

The total cost for this delivery was $209.00 ($34.83 per cup).

This delivery brings our running total to 1,416 water trucks delivered across Gaza through mutual aid. That’s the equivalent of 14.16 MILLION bottles of water.

Our work is all volunteer-led mutual aid grounded in the self-determination and sovereignty of the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Because this struggle has never been separate. On our lands, extraction threatens our water and future. In Palestine, the Israeli occupation controls and destroys water systems, denying Palestinian people in Gaza their right to water.

We continue because our water comes from Palestinian-owned wells in Gaza. Every truck is an act of direct aid and Indigenous solidarity, rooted in self-determination and sovereignty for the Palestinian people in Gaza.
