The Washington Mystics opened their 2026 preseason with a 77–66 loss to the Minnesota Lynx but the night provided a strong early look at a young core beginning to take shape.

Rookie center Lauren Betts led the way, finishing with 13 PTS and 5 REB while going an efficient 9-of-10 from the FT line. Forward Sonia Citron added 12 PTS, knocking down two 3 pointers, while Cotie McMahon contributed 11 PTS, 3 REB, and 2 STL, showcasing her two-way activity.

The debut of Georgia Amoore was another key storyline. In 13 MIN, Amoore recorded 3 PTS, 2 AST, and a STL, showing flashes of her playmaking ability and comfort running the offense despite limited time. Her pace and vision stood out, hinting at a larger role as the preseason continues.

Additional contributions came across the roster. Cassandre Prosper added 9 PTS and 5 REB, while Nyla Harris provided an efficient 4 PTS on 2-of-2 shooting. Angela Dugalic struggled from the field but still impacted the game with 5 REB, 2 STL, and a BLK.

While the result wasn’t in their favor, the Mystics saw encouraging production from their rookies and young contributors. With Betts anchoring inside, Amoore developing at the point, and multiple wings contributing across the board, Washington’s foundation is evident, the next step will be turning these individual flashes into consistent team execution.
