Friday morning in San Jose, a worker trimming a palm tree suffered a medical emergency suspended high above the ground. His harness held, but bringing him down safely required a different kind of response.

CAL FIRE's Alma Helitack answered the call. A firefighter was lowered directly into the tree, the worker was secured, and both were brought to the ground together — more than an hour of precise, high-stakes aerial work with no margin for error.
