If you’re planning to visit Panama and stay on the San Blas Islands, here’s something honest you should know 🌴

Vegetarian food is very limited here because these islands sit right in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, and life revolves around fishing.

Fresh seafood is what gets caught, cooked, and eaten every day.
So if you eat fish or meat, you’re sorted.
But if you’re vegetarian, it takes a little more patience.

I was the only vegetarian on the island during our stay, and I didn’t know what to expect. But the Indigenous people who run these islands were incredibly kind and tried their best to accommodate me.

I never left with an empty plate 🤍
Lunch and dinner were simple.. coconut-flavored rice, fried plantains, a bit of salad. It wasn’t fancy or varied, but it was warm, filling, and made with intention. And honestly, that mattered more.

Breakfast was basic too.. fried dough with chocolate or syrup, fresh fruits, coffee and somehow, it all tasted better in this slow, island life.

This place teaches you something quietly powerful:
Travel isn’t always about options. It’s about openness, gratitude, and appreciating the effort people make for you , even in the most remote corners of the world.

So yes, being vegetarian here isn’t easy.
But if you come with the right mindset, you’ll leave full - not just in your stomach, but in your heart 🌊

Would you still visit a place like this? Because I’d go back in a heartbeat.
