The Rideau Canal officially opens for skating on 31 December, turning Ottawa into a winter wonderland.

In summer, this canal is all about kayaking and paddleboarding. But when winter hits, the water is carefully drained and frozen to make it safe for skating, creating one of the most iconic winter experiences in the world.

There are multiple entry and exit points along the canal, and you don’t even need to step off the ice for snacks. You can skate straight to a BeaverTails stand on the rink 🍩⛸️
