If you’re moving to Canada, make sure to convert your Indian savings account to an NRE or NRO account.

Once you become an NRI, keeping a regular savings account is not allowed under FEMA rules.
If you don’t convert it, you might face tax penalties, and in some cases, your account can even get restricted or frozen.

And honestly? Once you’re outside India, getting this sorted can be time-consuming especially if you’re only visiting for a short trip.
