Columbia icefields is the largest icefield in North America,located along the border of Alberta and British Columbia provinces partly lying in the Banff and Jasper national parks.
.
So if you are visiting Banff, you must visit Columbia ice fields which is about 2h drive and below are the 2 best things you should not miss out in your itinerary!

1. Columbia Icefields skywalk :  A jaw-dropping glass floored Columbia Icefield Skywalk, separating you from the floor of the valley by a 918-foot drop. On the cliffs of the Sunwapta Valley, the Columbia Icefield Skywalk experience features fossils, waterfall views and incredible glacier landscapes along a one-kilometre interpretive walkway.
How to visit : Booking tickets online is suggested. 
When to visit: The skywalk is open from 4 May - 13 October 2024 
Cost : $41 for adults, $26.65 for kids
Tips : Book off peak season tickets for additional savings and less crowds. And also there is a live webcam, accessible online for public

2. Athabasca Glacier : The glacier is dangerous! People have been killed falling into deep, hidden cracks called crevasses in the glacier. For your safety do not cross the barriers.
Athabasca is 124 year old largest glacier in the Canadian Rockies, and one of the easiest accessible glacier in North America 
How to visit: Book online for Columbia Icefield explorer tour where you’ll travel on a massive Ice Explorer to a place where you can walk on, feel and drink from the Athabasca Glacier.
When to visit : mid April to mid October
Cost :  about $85 per adult and $54 per child

If you club these two into a package tour, it will cost about $110 per adult and $70 per child
