Touching down in Canada! Here’s your checklist for what to do as soon as you land

	1.	SIM Card: Buy a local SIM card for communication, ensure it’s activated and working. Top three tier1 service providers are : Bell, Rogers and Telus.

	2.	Social Insurance Number (SIN): The SIN is a crucial identification number for employment, taxation, and various government services in Canada. It is required for working, filing taxes, and accessing benefits. BEWARE OF SHARING IT WITH UNAUTHORISED INDIVIDUALS. 

	3.	Bank Account: Opening a Canadian bank account can simplify financial transactions efficiently. It’s a practical step to take early in your stay. Top banks: RBC, TD, Scotia, BMO, CIBC. 

	4.	Driver’s License: Apart from driving, particularly when you are in the process of obtaining your permanent resident status or other immigration-related documents, a G1 license (in Ontario) may be accepted as a form of identification by certain government agencies or institutions. However, it may not be universally accepted as a primary government-issued ID for all purposes.

	5.	Health Card (Provincial Health Insurance): Health coverage varies by province, but most require residents to have a health card. It provides access to essential healthcare services, so you should apply for it as soon as possible to ensure you’re covered.
