It’s intentional that I’m sharing this post a day after Mother’s Day. Back in 2016 when I decided to “start that silly blog of mine” focused on motherhood - sharing the unfiltered, vulnerable, and hard side of motherhood - I made a commitment to myself that motherhood would be celebrated, advocated for, & acknowledged unconditionally throughout the year. To share the thoughts, the struggles, and the joys with all of you & to receive the feedback that you have felt seen & heard validates that as a collective, we need each other. 

To my own mom (who funny enough, as a freelance journalist for the ottawacitizen wrote some of her motherhood experiences, ahem about me - swipe to see!) I appreciate you & the sacrifices you’ve made and being the foundation of our family.

To my grandmothers, my biji & nani, you are my angels. Your presence is always felt. 

To my Amia, who chose me & made me a mother at the age of 26 - we have grown together in many ways & we will continue to stand side by side through it all. You’ll never know just how much you have taught me. 

To my Aliza, who I see as my inner child, you are a force & I promise to make sure your spark shines bright, always.

To my babe on the way, I have prayed & dreamt of you, and you have no idea how much fun and love you’re about to receive & the lessons you’re already teaching us. 

To the moms who are hurting in corners of the world, living through war, g*nocides, unprecedented situations - my heart & soul aches for you and your babies. I won’t stop doing what I can in my capacity to support those in need, even those in our local community.
