Oh, hi. I’ve shifted gears around here into neutral for a little bit. Some big emotions over the last week and a bit as we transition to something new this coming week.

I shared last week in my stories that Matt and I made the tough decision to start our littlest warrior in daycare. Originally, she was to start daycare in October but we kept pushing that date, for obvious reasons, the main one being my mama heart not feeling it.

I know she’s going to LOVE it beyond words. I know this is going to be SO good for her. I KNOW. But nothing can stop the feelings of anxiousness and uncertainty. I’m sending my littlest warrior into a world that is no where close to a world I once knew it as. A world that doesn’t even make sense to me.

For her 15 months of life, she has only known mama or dada to be her everything, and being bugged and loved by her older sis. She hasn’t seen much outside of the 4 walls we’ve been in. Many of our closest friends haven’t even met her yet. It’s all so backwards. 

So, what changed our minds? Nothing to be honest. If it was up to me, we would still be keeping her sheltered, but it’s obvious this is not fair to her. She’s in need of social interactions with kids her age, activities, and an environment that equips her with skills to help her develop. Things neither of us could fulfill with the demands of work.

And that brings up a whole slew of mom guilt. Am I making the right call? Am I being selfish for not putting her before me or my work? I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights about this. She’s my everything and more. But I see she’s ready. And my mama heart is as ready as it can be.

I’m going to miss my break time cuddles and endless demands of asking for books, snacks, and The Wiggles. There’s a whole crew waiting for her at daycare to love her and embrace all of her zest and cheerfulness. She’s got this.
