They say it takes a village to raise children and support families. But what happens when there’s a lack of a village? What happens when families are at their wits end? Who do they turn to?

I’ve been talking to a lot of moms and dads about the concept of a village. Many of us are struggling. What really hit my heart is when my friend Alex from tinymarvels shared an article about CHEO seeing an increase in the number of cases related to infant injuries. I feel for the new parents, the seasoned parents, the single parents, all of you. This is NOT to shame anyone. This is to recognize and acknowledge that we need to step up here. We need to take meaningful actions to help each other out.

So, with the help of Alex and other local moms, we’re kick-starting The Village Project (swipe right). It’s an opportunity for a parent to note down (with the option of being anonymous) that they need help. Whether it be a hot beverage, a quick errand, a grocery pick-up, or maybe just a phone/video call. Let’s start somewhere. And if you’re an individual who can help out, please mark it down. You can coordinate directly with the person who has asked for help. The link to the doc is available in my bio. Send me a DM if you have questions or would like to share the initiative on your respective platforms. Or if you have ideas feel free to reach out.

We always say we’re in this together, but it’s time we show it.

On another note, I have to give a special shout-out to my soul friend, bernadethbetchi who has reminded me and so many others about the concept and importance of a village. You are my muse.
