Today’s letter to self is a bit different. First, it’s a letter to all. And secondly, if you know you know. Oh, and finally, it’s inspired by my 4 year old. I was in a downer state the other day and she just turned around and looked at me and said, “Stop being a Branch, be a Poppy, mama!” My jaw dropped.

To set the record straight, I don’t have anything against Branch. But I think we can all admit his vibe can be off at times. For all the right reasons. He’s cautious and is skeptical of situations and somehow always prepares for the worst. Oh, Branch and I could be friends. He finds it hard to sometimes find that inner voice. And honestly, sometimes I do too. 
.
So when Amia very vocally asserted this statement. I paused. Checked-in with myself. And decided to switch things around and be more of a Poppy. I can’t sing for the life of me but I can give hugs (virtual for the time being). More importantly I can be true to myself and anyone else. And in Poppy’s words, “There is always a bright side!”

To sum up, we can have our days but how we feel directly impacts those around us. Our energy is felt by our littles. I’m aware. I understood. And I acted.
