How many of us are in professions that we dreamt about being in? As young kids we’re always asked what we want to be when we grow up. I would always note down “actor” or “dancer” and I was convinced it was going to happen. Especially since I got my boost after winning the drama & dance award in grade school. I think my parents were puzzled and might’ve asked why I didn’t win the science or mathematics award. Oops.🤷🏽‍♀️

And just like that I think my dreams shattered. I was always told that the arts was a hobby not a profession. And this seems to be a common narrative I hear just from the conversations I’ve been having with the guests on my show.

What’s the revelation here? Well, do whatever it is that your mind and heart believe in. And don’t let your age, gender, or race stop you. And for that matter, don’t let being a parent stop you either. And actually, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise either. Keep those dreams within you alive. I was once hesitant to take risks — but I’ve stopped. I might still overthink A LOT. But life is unexpected.

Now, I’d be kidding myself if I failed to mention how I almost thought about changing careers and designing homes after having gone through the process of designing our forever home last year. But heck, is changing careers almost mid-way through your life a bad thing? I don’t think so. And what’s mid-way of life, anyways? Many spiralling thoughts over the last few days. I’d love to read your thoughts on this.

Also, I still need to make my way to get a pedicure, so please excuse the uncared for toes. I just love my bathroom tile design.
