I’m a parent. But I’m also a human being. I have emotions and feelings too that often get brushed away. I’m guilty of taking moments away from the day’s madness, but even as I write this, I use the word “guilty” — WHY?! Guilty because I have severe FOMO, fear of missing out, when it comes to my kids. Side note: isn’t it ironic that I only discovered this term thanks to my kids, especially my first because she had serious FOMO and would basically fight me at nap time and bedtime sleep.

Okay, back to me. I take moments when I know I need to recharge and recentre. Before becoming a mom, I was someone. I had passions and ambitions. Dreams and goals. And just because I’m in the vicious cycle of feeding, changing diapers, and constantly being on-demand mode, my identity shouldn’t be robbed from me. Truthfully, I love it all. But I need my moments. And this cyclical process shouldn’t define me as a person. Just because I became a mom doesn’t mean I should stop doing the things that give me a different form of energy and purpose. I’m still me, just wearing what feels like a million hats. Fun hats.

So when the opportunity came up to join rukusavenueradio and have my own talk show, I couldn’t say no. Primarily, radio is actually something that’s been immersed in my life since a very young age. My mama, a journalist, was either writing articles or on air; fun fact: she’s still going strong and has her own community radio show. And secondly, this opportunity is enabling me to diversify my creative muse. I get to do all that I’m currently doing plus more - hah, more hats! Seriously, this is so fun —- hearing from other parents and their parenthood journey from all different shades of life. Playing this catalyst role and bringing real life stories to you is not only extraordinary but humbling.

I mean it when I say all of your love and support is my fuel. Here’s to A Moment With Meenakshi...(can you tell I overused the word “moment” in this post?). I hope you tune in. Also, who can’t wait to travel again?!
