Do you ever wonder how our parents navigated parenthood without the internet and social media? I can’t even count the number of times I have worried myself sick thanks to Dr. Google. The thought of not being able to connect and relate with other mama’s on social media leaves me with a sense of feeling lost. I just hop on to my Facebook and search the numerous mom groups to validate I’m not driving myself crazy and that my child is completely normal. But seriously, who did our parents turn to? What resources did they have?
.
I feel so fortunate to live in a city (and country!) where I have quick access to public health centres to ask my burning questions about baby’s well-being, breastfeeding tips, and get a quick weight check (for baby of course).
.
I praise my parents for doing it all, especially my mama. After raising two kids, working full-time - she never stops being passionate and doing things she believes in. She didn’t have access to any mom Facebook groups - but what she did have was an intuition to do what’s best. Intuition - sometimes something I take for granted. A mama’s intuition is THE best and ONLY resource a mama could turn to.
.
So let’s just state the obvious, anything I am I got from my mama. Even this passion to write and be creative - yup, thanks to my mama. And on that note, I have some VERY exciting news to share. My mama is a Best Author nominee for the 2020 Faces Magazine Awards. It would mean the world to me if you click the link in my bio to vote for her. It would mean even more to me if you requested to purchase a copy of her book. She doesn’t gain a dime from the purchase of the books - it’s all donated to the Ottawa Heart Institute.
.
Point being: believe in yourself, don’t doubt your inner voice, and keep kicking ass at the most powerful and rewarding job: mamahood. Oh and vote!
