A new study led by Dr. Choi, Dr. Christou, and UF researchers examines how deep brain stimulation (DBS) may influence walking ability and fall risk in individuals with essential tremor.

As balance and mobility challenges increase in essential tremor, researchers sought to better understand how DBS impacts obstacle navigation during walking.

People with essential tremor showed reduced foot clearance compared to healthy older adults
With DBS turned ON, foot clearance significantly improved
