At UF Health’s Norman Fixel Institute, Lien Nguyen, PhD, and her team are exploring one of the most unknown parts of our genome — repetitive DNA once dismissed as “junk.” By studying how these hidden sequences behave in the brain, the Nguyen Lab is uncovering new clues about neurodegenerative diseases and opening doors to future treatment approaches.
