People with advanced Parkinson’s disease often experience unpredictable “Off” periods when medication stops working effectively.

In a new study— with UF Health Fixel Institute neurologist Dr. Irene Malaty among its authors — found that a 24-hour continuous levodopa/carbidopa infusion (LDp/CDp) showed promising results — helping participants spend more time in a “good On” state and maintain steadier movement control throughout the day.

This approach may represent a meaningful step toward improving daily function and quality of life for people with Parkinson’s.
