ICYMI: Children whose tic disorders are most likely to continue into adulthood have multiple psychiatric conditions and first-degree relatives with psychiatric disorders, a new study in the journal Movement Disorders has found. 

In Neurology Today, Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases neurologist, Dr. Irene Malaty, emphasized the importance of managing coexisting conditions. 

“In many cases, they influence well-being as much [as], or more than, the tics,” she said.
