A 30-year mortgage doesn't mean you're stuck for 30 years. One extra payment a year can change everything.

1 extra payment/year = 7 years off your loan
2 extra payments/year = 14 years off
3 extra payments/year = 21 years off

People pay off homes in 7, 10, or 15 years using this. The bank won't tell you — but I will.

Always tell your loan servicer to apply extra payments to the PRINCIPAL. Otherwise they'll count it as next month's payment and you lose the benefit.
