Introducing: Kurt S!
IMSA Track Services Team Member since 2022

“I am a firefighter/EMT for Forks Fire District #3, in my hometown of Cheektowaga, NY. Over the last 28 years, I have moved through the ranks, serving as EMS Officer, Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and Chief. I am also a CPR and Stop the Bleed instructor. I have taught department drills for vehicle extrication and have received countless hours of training related to motor vehicle crash rescue!
I was recruited while attending a special event at Watkins Glen International to be a member of the volunteer Fire Rescue team a little over ten years ago. I started working racing events that included everything from car clubs to large spectator events like IMSA and NASCAR. I am currently the training coordinator and an Assistant Chief on the WGI team, along with my responsibilities on the IMSA AMR Safety Team. I have also worked at several other tracks, including Daytona, Phoenix, CTMP, and Sebring!
When you work within the motorsports emergency services specialty, you meet like-minded professionals from different circuits, venues, and sanctioning bodies who all ultimately want one thing, to work as a team and provide the best services possible. Being asked to be part of the IMSA family three years ago was and continues to be a true honor and privilege!
I have been a Cheektowaga police officer for 25 years and am currently a detective assigned to the CSI unit, where I respond to, investigate, collect evidence, and photograph crime scenes. I am also a certified police instructor in several specialties, including firearms, photography, and CSI.
My wife and I also volunteer for multiple local animal rescue groups and foster homeless pets.”
