Despite a 2-2 week that included a midweek loss to 11th-ranked Kansas, Nebraska checks in at No. 16 in the latest D1Baseball rankings released Monday.

No. 20 Nebraska baseball bounced back from the lost at Kanas by taking two of three from Illinois on the road.

The Huskers now sit at 33-11 overall and 17-4 in conference play. They sit 2nd in the Big Ten Standings


After dropping Friday’s opener 10-5, the Huskers responded with a statement win Saturday, erupting for 12 runs on a season-high 18 hits. 

Then on Sunday, Nebraska leaned on pitching. Gavin Blachowicz delivered 6-plus scoreless innings, and Ty Horn shut the door—retiring the final eight batters—to secure a 3-0 shutout and the series win.



The big picture—this team continues to show balance. When the bats are hot, they can overwhelm you. And when they’re not, when the pitching staff is on, they can still win series.

Next up, at home against Kansas State on Tuesday night before continuing Big Ten play at Ohio State for a weekend series.
