Springfield PICS are proud to announce that Forward Justin Hooper (’05) of Coconut Creek, Florida has committed to the Trine University Men’s Hockey Program (NCAA Division III) in Angola, Indiana.
Hooper made his mark every single night he wore the PICS crest. An ’05 with pure offensive firepower, Hooper spent a single season at the Premier level with the PICS, dressing for 54 games (11 postseason) and racking up a massive 80 points — 24 goals and 56 assists.
In the following year, joining the inaugural NCDC season with the PICS, he didn’t slow down for a second. In 42 games, Hooper added another 20 goals and 28 points, showing the same speed, skill, and killer instinct around the net that made him one of the most dangerous ’05s in the league.
His play earned him a move “trade” to the playoff‑bound Jr. Rangers squad, where he added 4 goals and 8 assists in 9 games,
Hooper is the definition of an offensive threat — and the PICS are proud to have been part of his journey.
When asked about his commitment, Justin shared:
I am proud and honored to announce my commitment to play NCAA hockey at Trine University. I want to thank Coach Rob Bonneau for giving me the chance to represent the Pics organization over the past two seasons. He gave me a tremendous opportunity and helped develop me into the player and person I am today. He believed in me when most didn’t, and I’ll always be grateful for that. I also want to thank my parents and advisor for putting me in the best positions to succeed, as well as my teammates and friends who pushed me to get better every day. I’m excited for this next chapter and ready to get to work.
Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added:
Justin was a player who scored from the moment he put on the PICS jersey and continued to produce points over two seasons. During those two years, I watched him develop into a college hockey player. He was a major contributor in our run to the Premier Nationals and an offensive force in our first NCDC season. I look forward to watching Justin play college hockey, and I’ll miss writing his name into the lineup every day.
