🌿🦋🌺 Nature lovers, this one’s for you! Spend the day exploring the stunning Westcave Nature Preserve, just a short drive from Austin. 🌿🦋🌺

We highly recommend adding Westcave Nature Preserve to your Austin itinerary!

Here’s a sample to get you started:

🚙 Start your day early and arrive at Westcave Nature Preserve when it opens. The preserve is located about 30 miles west of Austin, so plan for a 45-minute drive.

🗺️ Begin your adventure with a guided tour of the Westcave Preserve’s canyon and grotto. The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours and includes a walk through the canyon, a visit to the 40-foot waterfall, and a guided tour of the cave. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring water and a hat, and wear sunscreen.

🚶‍♀️After the tour, take some time to explore the trails on your own. There are several trails to choose from, ranging from easy to challenging. Take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy the fresh air.

🥗 Time for a picnic! Bring a picnic lunch or snack and enjoy it at one of the many picnic tables available on the preserve. You can also relax and take in the views at the bird blind or near the butterfly garden.

🌸 Join a guided wildflower walk to learn about the native plant species that are found in the preserve. This walk is seasonal and typically takes place in the spring and early summer.

📚 Visit the Nature Center to learn more about the preserve’s history and the various species of plants and animals that call it home. The Nature Center also has interactive exhibits, a gift shop, and restrooms.
