A salaried person and a freelancer both earn ₹24 lakh, but the tax outcome looks completely different.

Hi, I am Chandralekha and I love talking about money.

This happens because of Section 44ADA.

💡Here’s what’s happening:
✅ Freelancers (including creators) can assume 50% of their income as expenses
✅ So on ₹24L, taxable income becomes ₹12L
✅ Under the new tax regime, the 87A rebate can bring tax down to ₹0
✅ No books to maintain and no audit required

On the same ₹24 lakh, a salaried person’s taxable income stays much higher even after standard deduction, leading to roughly ₹2.9 lakh in tax under the new regime.

Same income. Very different outcomes.
Tax isn’t just about how much you earn, it’s about how you earn it.
