At the National Park Service, our arborists aren’t just pine, they’re tree-mendous!

#HappyArborDay! From the towering giant sequoias and coastal redwoods of the West, to moss-draped bald cypress in southeastern swamps, and the spectacular cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin in our nation’s capital, trees are iconic natural treasures throughout our parks.

Arborists play a vital role in national parks, tackling everything from assessing tree health and sampling soil to managing pests, diseases, irrigation, and lightning protection. They climb trees, prune from the ground, mitigate hazards, and even handle GIS data, ensuring our trees stay healthy, safe, and thriving.
