Before you can take care of the Earth, you must be able to take care of yourself. 💚
 
As we round out Earth Month, we’re focusing our energy on the eight billion earthlings who inhabit this beautiful, unique planet. 
 
Climate change continues to be one of our most pressing global challenges, and more than any other issue, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the scale of it. Here at Life is Good, we’re climate optimists, and we believe there’s a way to navigate this challenge — but how can any one person make a positive impact?
 
Through our work with the Life is Good Playmaker Project (lifeisgoodcoplaymakers) and a growing body of scientific research, we know that in order to take care of others, you have to be able to take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
 
Which means that step one for healing this world is to first heal yourself. What that looks like is different for everyone, but it starts internal (yourself) and moves local (your direct community) — coaching youth sports, growing a garden, volunteer firefighting, or starting a stargazing club. If it fills your soul, it’s the right thing.
 
The point is: when challenges become too large for one person to metabolize, we become overwhelmed and freeze. By shrinking the size of the challenge to be 1st) internal and 2nd) local, you can unfreeze just enough to start something. And that something might eventually lead to exactly what this world needs.
 
For the planet Earth, this month is the same as every other month this year — and last year, and last century, and last millennium. Which is why Earth Month isn’t for the Earth. It’s for us. 🌎
