Women's health questions can be personal, complex and sometimes overwhelming - and a lot of them go unanswered because people don't know where to start.

Dr. Amy Lynn Safaty has been a CVS pharmacy district leader on Long Island for over a decade. She is also a breast cancer previvor who carries the BRCA2 mutation and chose to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy as part of her preventative care journey. Today she uses that experience to advocate for genetic testing, early detection and the kind of honest conversations about women's health that too many people are still afraid to have.

In Episode 5 of Beyond the Script, Amy Lynn joins Dr. Jake Goodman to cover the full spectrum of women's health - from menstrual cycles, birth control options and emergency contraception to yeast infections, UTIs and the questions most women feel uncomfortable asking out loud. She breaks down what pharmacists can now prescribe depending on your state, why finishing a full course of treatment matters more than most people realize, and why ignoring irregular periods is never the right call.

The conversation also turns to menopause and perimenopause - a space Amy Lynn says is full of misinformation and undersupported by the healthcare system. She is direct about supplements that aren't regulated, lifestyle changes that actually have evidence behind them, and why spicy food at dinner might be the reason for that 2am hot flash.

And then there is the part about genetic testing. Amy Lynn found out she carried the BRCA2 mutation after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her message to anyone afraid to get tested is simple - knowledge is power and doing nothing is not the same as being safe.

Myth or Medicine closes the episode on women's health - including whether severe period cramps are just something to live with, whether skipping periods on birth control affects long term fertility, and whether menopause can actually start before 40.
