The Focus ST is the most underrated hot hatch platform Ford ever made — and clean examples are quietly disappearing.

Seriously. While everyone was arguing about GTIs and WRXs, the ST was out here offering a genuinely engaging chassis, a 2.0T with massive tuning headroom, and one of the best shifter feels of any modern car. The Mk3 generation (2013-2018) hit a sweet spot where you got enough tech to live with daily but not so much electronic nannying that the car lost its personality.

Here's how to build one right:

→ Start with a Cobb AccessPort — it wakes up the EcoBoost in a way bolt-ons alone never will
→ Address the suspension and rear beam before adding power — the stock chassis is good but it rewards proper geometry
→ Run 18x9.5 +40 for the best balance of fitment, tire selection, and daily usability
→ Don't sleep on these — low-mile, unmolested STs are getting harder to find every month

The temptation is always to throw an exhaust and intake on first because they're loud and look cool. Resist that. The order you build matters, especially on a FWD platform where putting power down cleanly is everything. Get the tune right, get the chassis sorted, THEN start chasing bigger numbers.
