Bringing into dialogue the practices of David Hammons and Jannis Kounellis for the first time in over three decades, this exhibition reflects on the artists’ shared material intelligence and poetics of resistance.⁠

Across works spanning more than 50 years, both artists grapple with notions of displacement, vulnerability and fragmentation, rethinking the languages of Conceptualism and Arte Povera as artistic strategies capable of critically engaging with the wider world.⁠
⁠
From Kounellis’s ‘Alphabet’ paintings to Hammons’s ‘Body Prints’ and video works, the exhibition foregrounds the formal and conceptual manner in which established systems of meaning may be challenged.⁠
