Before #NationalPoetryMonth comes to a close, we want to observe and celebrate the art form for it is: a resource Black communities have longed used to endure, to resist and to persist. From historical poets like Audre Lorde and Maya Angelou to contemporary ones like Jericho Brown and Terrance Hayes, poets and their work have provided the words for all of us to express our pain, our anger, our realities, but also our resilience, our power and our joy. 

In the moment we find ourselves in, let us once again lean into poetry to acknowledge our truth, conjure hope, and energize ourselves for the fight ahead.
